What would happen if local people
with good ideas and good projects
were given community support?
Community Soup is a monthly dinner where the eaters vote on which local project gets all the money from the dinner.
Modeled after a monthly dinner that has been going on for six years in Detroit, we believe this program would be useful and fun (here’s the link http://detroitsoup.com)
Here’s basically how it works: Each month a dinner is held — where for $5 you get dinner (soup, salad, bread), during dinner four local projects are presented. Each project is presented in four minutes, in a non-electronic, person-to-person way. At the end of the dinner, everyone votes for their favorite project, the winner gets all the money ($5 x the number of people at the dinner) collected for their project.
